BackHexacta starts working with a San Francisco Bay Area Company from its Software Factory located in Argentina - 12/15/2002 - 12/2002
Since May 2002, a team of Hexacta developers has participated in a development project in LeapFrog Co., a California based company that is leader in the development of technological educational toys, founded in 1995 by Michael Wood.
This stage's main objective was to train the Hexacta team in the Leapfrog technology and development methodology. This first step intended to transfer the knowledge that would be needed in the outsourcing of further developments. This first project also enabled Leapfrog to test Hexacta's level of expertise and technical know how.
Among the many different products developed by Leapfrog, Hexacta contributed in the development of applications for the Leappad, its star product.
The Leappad is a Learning Interactive System in which many different books, that contain games and educational activities, can be "plugged" based on the software. The success of the product is based on the continuous launch of new books to the market and also on the quality of these books.
According to the Wall Street Journal the Leappad ranked fourth in the Christmas toys sales. This huge success for an educational toy is unexpected news in the toys industry. It could be explained in part due to the growing interest of politicians and parents in the quality level of public education.
The Leapfrog annual revenues increased from 3 MM in its first year, 1995, to around 500 MM this year according to Wall Street predictions. This fact is specially remarkable in a year in which a decrease in toy sales is expected.
This effort led to a current second stage, in which Hexacta is developing and modifying Leapfrog products remotely from its Software Factory in Argentina . Thanks to the trustworthy relationship generated, Hexacta is responsible for the entire development of this stage.
