Embratel enjoys a major optimization of its processes thanks to the Sync project - 11/15/2002 - 11/2002

Embratel, the biggest South American company in long distance communication hired Hexacta in order to optimize the information updating system it had between its databases.

The company stores all of the Brazilian telephone numbers in its three main databases which are generally updated by their own clients and by the local telecommunications companies.

Significant and expensive problems were detected by Embratel due to the lack of synchronization between the databases.

Hexacta worked with Embratel to solve this problem, not only from the technological perspective but also from their process overview. The solution consisted in the integration of the existing client databases and the redefinition of new processes for maintenance.
An automatic synchronization tool for accountability and services was designed and developed. This tool will manage all the synchronisation check requests, which mainly come from two CDS and Siebel systems.

At the same time, another application for manual database synchronization was designed and developed.
This one was for dealing with transactions that were rejected by the automatic synchronization tool.

Thanks to these changes, Embratel saved over US$ 2.5 million annually due to billing accumulation, and experienced a growth of US$ 1.4 million in annual revenues thanks to the reduction in non-refundable billing problems due to data issues. Moreover, the incomes generated due to the reduction in the number of refundable bills resulted in an annual increase of US$ 0.5 million.
